In my book, “’Star Wars’ Is Still Intact: Re-finding Yourself in the Age of Trump,” I defend journalists. It’s in the chapter titled “When you realize that the president of the United States would be cool with assaulting you.”
“Donald Trump has made me afraid as much as at any point when he has been a candidate or occupied the White House when he tweeted a video of him attacking a person with a CNN logo superimposed over the individual’s head. And that it was his most re-tweeted tweet at least at the time,” I, a journalist myself, wrote. “’He’s going to get a reporter killed,’ I said out loud, considering what the promotion of violence could incite.”

The chapter is among 10 that comprise the book. Others have to do with sexuality, true history related to Thanksgiving and body size.
Besides those writings, the work is also made up of my writings about my trauma in departing from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I wouldn’t be surprised if everyone who leaves the Latter-day Saint church needs therapy for some extent of time.
A nurse practitioner said he was surprised I wasn’t “dealing,” “stealing” and “pimping” in the wake of leaving the church. That marked a continuation of a span of time where I faced many hardships. They availed me to thoughts I may not have had otherwise.
Those struggles started on July 12, 2015. That was the day my faith in the church broke. I didn’t expect that that would launch an existential crisis. Rejection from family didn’t help didn’t help with my suffering.
But I had to get clear of a cult, and that came during an extraordinary cultural time in the United States. “Star Wars” returned to the big screen and Donald Trump was elected president, resulting in a public questioning of institutions.
